The following people were instrumental in the development of the Tri Town Foundation: Murray Cooper, Peter Ramsay, David Armstrong, George Morissette, Serge Hamel, Roy Carlyle, Florent Heroux, Charles (Chuck) Clark, Mike Imbeau, Judge J. Douglas Bernstein and Gerald Blair. Today the Board has twelve members and is made up of a cross-section of the community. The Temiskaming Foundation serves the area from Latchford to Englehart.
The original stratgic plan set a goal of $250,000 in endowments by the year 2000. By 2002 there were 22 funds with a total amount exceeding $1,000,000. In 2001 these same funds provided over $42,000 to be given out in grants within the community.
Established funds range from those that benefit many graduating high school students, the elederly, local arts and culture activities, New Liskeard Public School, the Temiskaming Music Festival, Temiskaming Art Gallery, and local museums. Undesignated funds benefit worthy causes across many sectors of the community.
Effective July 29, 2009, the Tri Town Foundation changed its name to The Temiskaming Foundation to more accurately reflect the geographic area it serves. A new name, a great future and continuing to serve Temiskaming from Kirkland Lake to Latchford.
